It's Alive!

2 min read
Hi.  I live.  :D

Well a whole lot has happened since I last edited my journal here.

The biggest of which is I moved to Switzerland in June of this year.  It's certainly a huge change from living in Newfoundland for the last 16 years.
I'm not longer near friends or family.  I've certainly learned what it's like to be alone and not close to those you love.

While that's certainly a down side to living in a foreign country, it's actually quite nice here.  We're living in a quiet town called Zug (which is part of the Canton of Zug, in the German-speaking region of Switzerland).  In fact, while I have not been up to a whole lot, I actually enjoy it here.  The view is nice too.  We even have a nice view of the lake (called the Zugersee) and the mountains from our apartment.

There is one thing that has been keeping me occupied, however.  I've been taking German lessons!  It's quite difficult, but of course there are some parallels to English and even French that makes it a bit easier to understand.  So at least I'm not being completely idle, right?  Haha.

All the best.  <3

Hello!  It's about time I update this thing.

Anywho, not much has gone on in the last few weeks.

However, I did have a good summer!  I suffered under the wrath of doing a spring semester this year, but I didn't do much suffering.  I went on the English Cultural Landscape program that was offered by MUN's Folklore and Archaeology departments.  So I got to go to Harlow for six weeks.

We had a lot of fun!  The field books were a bit tedious, but the majority of the field trip destinations were very interesting nevertheless and I enjoyed them.  I also got to meet lots of awesome people.  :3

We spent a lot of time in London during our weekends.  Went to Camden Town a few times to shop.  I loved the atmosphere there!  Not to mention the great international food.  I got to see a couple of musicals too.  I saw Avenue Q (which I really wanted to see) and Wicked (for the second time - but it was better than the first time I saw it).

I've been home for the last month, doing a lot of nothing.  Haha.  Now I'm at the point where I'm ready to go back to school.  I'll be in my final year!  Wow, I'm starting to feel old.

That's it for now!
Lots of love,
Melissa

Hello!

It's time for my semi-annual art update!

Soo... what's going on in my life as of late?  Not much.  Slowly surviving my days at MUN.  I'm doing the spring semester this time around (classes started today) as part of the Harlow program with the Archaeology department.  So aside from the 20-page paper I have due at the end of the semester, I get to go to England for six weeks!  So that'll be fun.  I have family who live in England so I plan to visit them for a weekend, and I hope to see some of the surrounding countries.  I reallllly want to go to France.

What else?  I'm done with NSYO now.  Forever.  Being in that group, two other bands and keeping up with school work was too much, so it was time to retire.  Oh well, I don't mind.    I was tired of putting up with our director anyway.

Well, that's all that's going on at the moment.  Not that interesting lol.

Love you all!

Still Alive

Yup.  I'm still here.  Haha.

So I've survived yet another year at MUN.  Yayness.

Nothing much has been going on since then.  I went to Italy for two weeks after I finished finals.  It was beautiful!

Now I'm working for the Artifacts Association of the Crow's Nest.  At the moment I'm archiving photos.  It's a long and tedious process, but in the long run it will give me some experience in collections management, a skill that is used in the archaeological field.

The NSYO is also preparing to go to Ottawa for Canada Day, so Gardner is getting kind of cranky.  *hides from the wrath of the man boobs*

That's about it for now, but before I go, I'd like to give a shout out to Niki, one of my friends from Gaia.  She's been writing a story that's a spin off of an RP that we're involved with.  Go check it out if you want.  You can visit her here:  :iconphud:

Hello everyone.  I'm still alive.

Nothing of major interest has happened over the last few months.  Just a lot of band and youth orchestra rehearsals and selling my soul to the world of post-secondary education.

I did get to learn bass clarinet for a Harry Potter piece we did in youth orchestra however.  I've been waiting seven years to learn bass.

I hope you've all had a good 2007, and Christmas, and I hope you all have a happy new year!

~Mel
